Privacy notice

Version 1.0 (30 October 2026). This is the same notice as in the app, under Help › Privacy.

In short

Pawcket keeps your data on your computer. There is no cloud account, no tracking and no telemetry: we never receive your customers’ details or your ledger.

What is stored, and where

Customers, invoices, notes, promises, disputes, payments and settings are stored in a database file in your Windows profile (%APPDATA%\Credit Control Toolkit), with daily backups next to it and, if you choose, an extra copy in a folder you pick. Companies House keys and Microsoft sign-ins are encrypted with Windows’ own protection.

A small support log in the same folder records technical errors (not your customers’ details) to help fix problems.

When the app connects to the internet

Only when you use these features:

• Companies House: the company numbers you look up are sent to Companies House with your own API key. No names, balances or other details are sent.
• Email: when you email a letter through Microsoft 365, the email and its attachment are created in your own mailbox through Microsoft. With classic Outlook or .eml files nothing goes online until you press Send yourself.
• Licence check: your licence key is checked with Gumroad, the shop the app is sold through. No other data is sent.

Diagnostics files

Help › Export diagnostics saves a text file on your computer with version numbers, counts and recent technical errors. It does not contain customer names, amounts, contact details, notes, keys or sign-ins. It is only shared if you choose to send it to us.

Your customers’ personal data

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), your business is the controller of the personal data you keep in the app, such as customer contact names and emails. We do not process it, because it never leaves your computer. You can delete everything at any time with Settings › Delete all data.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other websites. Like any website host, our host (Netlify) keeps short-lived technical logs of visits. Buying or downloading happens on Gumroad, which has its own privacy policy.
