Getting started

From download to your first chase list in about ten minutes.

1. Install Pawcket

You need a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC (64-bit). You don't need administrator rights.

  1. Download Pawcket-Setup from the Gumroad link in your email or on the product page.
  2. Open the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the installer. You can choose where to install it; the usual place is fine.
  4. Open Pawcket from the desktop shortcut or the Start menu.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"? This blue box appears for new apps from small publishers. Click More info, then Run anyway. It only appears the first time you install.

Only do this for a file you downloaded from Pawcket's Gumroad page.

2. The welcome guide

The first time Pawcket opens, a short guide asks for:

You can change all of this later in Settings › Your company.

3. Import your aged debt

  1. In your accounting system, export your aged debt (aged receivables) report to Excel or CSV. Pawcket shows the exact steps for each system.
  2. In Pawcket, click Import data at the bottom of the left-hand menu.
  3. Choose your accounting system, then upload the file.
  4. Check the columns Pawcket has matched. Change any that are wrong; Pawcket remembers them for next time.
  5. Check the summary and any warnings, then confirm. Nothing is saved until you do.

Not on the list? Choose Manual template, click Download template (.xlsx), copy your figures into it and import that.

Import a fresh report whenever you like (weekly or daily works well). Your notes, promises and chase history are kept. If an invoice has disappeared from a full report, Pawcket asks before marking it paid.

4. Your daily chasing

You can change the chase steps and timings in Settings › Chase workflow.

5. Set up email

Go to Settings › Email and pick how Pawcket should send:

Every email opens as a draft for you to check before you send it. You can edit the letter wording in Letter templates.

6. Enter your licence key

Pawcket is free to use for 14 days. After you buy, Gumroad emails you a licence key.

  1. Go to Settings › Licence (or click Enter licence key on the trial banner).
  2. Paste the key and click Activate.

One licence covers 2 computers. Pawcket checks the key with Gumroad about once a week and keeps working offline for up to 30 days between checks. Moving to a new PC? Email us and we'll free up the old one.

7. Backups

Pawcket backs up your data every day, and before every update or restore. To keep an extra copy somewhere safe, such as OneDrive or a USB stick, choose a folder in Settings › Automatic backups.

You can make a backup any time with Back up now, or restore an older one, in Settings › Your data. Uninstalling Pawcket never deletes your data.

8. Updating Pawcket

When a new version is released, download it from Gumroad (use the link in your purchase email) and install it over the old one. Your data and settings are kept, and Pawcket makes a backup before it upgrades anything.

9. Getting help

The app has its own guide under Help. If something goes wrong, Pawcket shows a short message with a reference code.

  1. Go to Help › Backups & support and click Export diagnostics. This file has no customer details in it.
  2. Email it, with the reference code and what you were doing, to crystalso888@gmail.com.
